Sometimes one scene sticks with you - so much that it’s the first thing you remember when you think of a show. What if you could capture that feeling, and enjoy it whenever you wanted to?
HOLD VHS mood lights live quietly in bedrooms, on shelves, beside screens. Wherever you keep the things that mean something to you.
Each light is a unique combination of original vintage VHS tape shells, specially installed low-energy LED lighting, and a hand cut film print that allows light to pass through it.
Real Vintage
HOLD VHS began with three damaged video tapes, each non-salvageable for one reason or another. As a VHS collector, I knew they had no value in the market. Most like them end up as non-recyclable waste in landfills. Instead, I saw their potential for upcycling. What started as a one-off art project quickly became a bonafide product that celebrates media while exploring the juxtaposition of modern shows on an obsolete format.
